Roundtable Discussion: What About Audism?

What about Audism??

This is a roundtable discussion co-led by and co-facilitated by Deaf community of color members to talk about the intersectional impact of audism has on Deaf communities of color. The key question is audism an act of sociocultural violence or oppression? This is the opportunity to change the dominant narrative(s) and co-create solutions to rise above or to dismantle audism.

As we engage on practicing mindfulness as part of our event hosting process, we would like to encourage you to be mindful of the space we co-create this space with you. The event will be held on the 4th floor in room #403.

General community members are welcome to attend this roundtable discussion event. Deaf Black Indigenous People of Colour (DBIPOC*) are greatly encourage to come to co-facilitate this event.

Mindfulness reminder: This is a sacred space of DBIPOC*. Be mindful of their voices and their journeys when sharing their narratives in this space. Also be mindful of the lateral and vertical privileges that you have when entering the sacred space.

For accessibility to arriving in our event, the building location provides elevators, escalators and stairs. It is also wheelchair accessible. The building lobby also have a ramp access to allow those to have direct access to the elevators to get to the room.
