Solidarity Community ASL Class Orientation

  • Whatcom Peace and Justice Centre 1220 Bay Street Bellingham, WA 98225 United States (map)

This is an informational session orientation for people who are interested in taking our community ASL classes based on social justice & equity literacy in January 2019 for 8 week sessions.

Community participants will have the opportunity to learn general conversational ASL as well as social justice & equity vocabulary in American Sign Language (ASL) and have the opportunity register for classes in 3 formats: private tutoring session, full in person class session, and mixed session (2 in person class sessions and 2 private tutoring sessions).

The classes will be taught by Deaf people of color/Deaf community members of color.

Notice: There will be no voice interpreters for the orientations, however, you will be in good hands with Deaf instructors of color.

Mindfulness request: When you are entering the Deaf Space, please turn off your voice or make the space to be speech free to demonstrate respect to every person co-creating the space together.

More details on the costs of each session format will be posted soon.

Inquiries can be emailed to solidarityasl@cascadiadeafnation.co

We hope to rebuild the human/humxn connection with you.
